Building a New Pool With Lazaway Pools

I am in the process of building a pool with Lazaway Pools and would like to share my experiences and invite others to do the same.

My experience with Lazaway Pools has not been good. The salesman was very nice but left out important details re extra costs for plumbing, electrical work etc etc that would not have stopped us from going ahead necessarily but would have given us a more accurate estimation of the completed pool price. The pool was ordered in Feb 08 to be completed by September/early October. We had to fight to have it finished by the 26th of November, and I mean fight. Not pleasant at all. Then from day one the pool has had a leak on the suction line which means the pump cuts in and out and we cannot vacuum or use the creepy-crawly thing to use the pool, (plus a few other smaller issues that are not as crucial). But now with the leak we have to pay up front to have a man in a scuba suit to find the leak, although there is an obvious leak from one of the PVC pipes and a resulting wet patch in the ground surrounding the pool. So this happens next week. It also means I am paying for a lot more chemical trying to gat the pool clear so the scuba man can do his job! It has been stressful dealing with the company and the managers and the company director hide behind the girl on the switchboard and don't respond to faxes or calls. Even the contractors that come on site claim they have heated exchanges with customers and don't want to align themselves with Lazaway or wear a uniform. It makes me think that possibly some of these contractors may be employees but just say they are contractors to avoid abuse. The only people that are employees are the office people... Anyway, I say avoid them. A friend of mine used a different company and had no such issues. I think I picked the wrong company judging by the Consumer Affairs website as well where they rate a mention - but not a good one.

Ditto four years latter no change. Bullys who will intimidate you if they can to ensure you do not get what you deserve. Named by Consumer Affairs, Reprimanded by the Buidling Tribunal. See VCAT Decision Wilson & ANor v Lazaway for how to beat them & hold your ground. DO NOT engage this company under ANY circumstances. They will tell you this is just a one off complaint it is not there are many. BAD BAD BAD.

hi,my experience is current and very real, and i can say, that what some people write is vindictive and that people should check their facts.
I have had a pool recently completed by lazaway and it was perfect, yes perfect, so now your asking yourselves who is this person, and why is he doing this.
so to answer that i was asked by jason to write this comment, jason sold me a pool, and we got what we paid for, a brilliant family pool built and delivered on time and for what we signed up for, no extras, no lies, no problems.
we are absolutely over the moon with the end result and even our friend who have built with other companies commented on the difference between what we got and what they got.
all we asked for was a real price, we had other companies around, but on our reasearch they didnt include everything, jason did, which made our decision to build with lazaway a no brainer, sure we read the bad comments on the web, but we had open eyes and looked beyond the words and saw the end result.
jason did tell us that lazawy are the biggest builder in victoria and australia so if you look at the amount of comments compared to the volume of pools that they build, its bloody small.
Anyway, i just wanted to throw my hat into the ring and give credit where credit is due, great job, well done, and to all who dont use them,. good luck, youll need it.

I am think of getting a swimming pool and I was reading some of these reviews done on Lazaway. I have placed a sales enquiry and they where the quickest of all companies to respond to it and so fay have been very professional.

I cant believe some of the stories I have read. Are they true? it certainly turns me off doing business with them.

Look forward to some comments from anyone.

Hi There,

We signed up in Feb 2013, the sales man Stephen Clarke was intality cery nice and prompt in retuning our calls etc.
Once we signed up and trying to get a clear indication on what would happen when was like extracting teeth. We had contractor arrive unannounced and it was luck we were home to let them into the property. The contractors have been great and the job this far it looks lovely.
We have been caught out on the water feature- We said when we agreed to this that we would like stacked stone rather than a tiled front- Told that it was all good no issues.
Now they have tried to slug us an additional $625.00 to get the stacked stone installed. Saything this the water feature has been installed flush with the pool when it should have been set back sligtly to allow for the depth of the stacked stone. MISTAKE and they are now claiming it was our responsibilty to call the office to advise them that we were using stacked stone. So from this we obvisouly learnt there is no communication between the office and the sales people as we are now left with a water feature that is incorrectly installed and now going to be out of pocket to get it finished.
We are having major communication issues with JOHN WHITE.... he refuses to return my calls and writes email like the below: Unfactual and absolutely Wrong.
Dear Casey,
I have spoken with Stephen and he did say you could
change to stack stone, but you needed to advise the
office. Wall was built before you advised us. Lazaway has
not made a mistake, it merely progressed with works as
nominated in the contract. To complete the wall the way
you want will cost an additional $625.00. Please advise
this is the way you want to go.
Regards,
John W.

Overall very stressful experience dealing with them.. YES the price was very good but saying that would have gladly paid a bit more not to deal with these issues.
Casey
